ENVIRONMENT

Ever thought of the beauty of Universe? The Geographical environment around us?  Think of Mother Nature, always giving more without much expectation. I personally would like to address the issue of Environmental mistreatment and lack of respect for Mother Nature.
What exactly is environment? It is the conditions in a place that affect the behavior and development of something or somebody. It can also be defined as everything at is around us.
Environment has been destroyed through many ways .The common one being De- afforestration .The late Professor Wangari  Muta Maathai showed her love for the environment despite all the difficulties that  she went through. Her never ending love for Mother Nature can clearly be traced to her death bed,  that was made of bamboo, papyrus and water hyacinth not wood as this would involve cutting down of a few trees.
In a Global Youth Leadership Summit held in UN, Gigiri on 19th October 2011, topic being, “THE ENVIRONMENT” was presented by Mr. Louis who elaborated how the environment is being destroyed by us.
Many expect to live a comfortable life, breathe fresh air, have a green surrounding and above all, have fresh food stuff. How can all these be achieved when we are at the fore front of destroying the environment? What exactly are our morals?
Everyone should put him/herself in the position of the provider (ENVIRONMENT), and see or rather feel how it hurts to be met by irresponsibility and lack of respect. Why can`t we make it our responsibility not to destroy Mother Nature?
Well, let’s join hands and continue from where the late Laureate Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Professor Wangari Maathai left. We should all change our negative attitude towards the environment because if we do not change, change will change us.
                        Thank you!!!

Did you know

DID YOU KNOW
It’s now a proven fact that in the next 50 years most of the world animals will be extinct.  Since 2007 till to date the earth has used up to 30% of its renewable recourses. This is due to environmental degradation caused by the need to provide for the growing population and industrial development. 75% of the world natural forests are now destroyed with our ambitious economy pushing us further and further away from being able to sustain the planet species. The population is growing at an alarming rate a case example of Nigeria which is the highest populated country in Africa with a population of approximately 160 million and expected 270 million by the year 2050.

Population increment is not only happening in Africa it’s global, and due to these trees are being cut down and replaced with sky scrapers; as well as increasing carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere. The harsh truth is that human beings are the biggest contributors to the current state of the planet but we should know that we are just a part of the universe. In Africa, the wildlife is at the verge of extinction examples of the lions in Kenya in 2002 were 2746 and today there are only about 2000 which is just estimation.

Instead of trying to rebuild our planet we are doing the opposite we are going deeper to find more oil, more gold we now have more industries we have more waste. In the process of our ambition we destroy our environment .I will give you another example of Niger due to oil extraction the marine life has died, the soil is no longer fertile  literally nothing grows there they have no clean water and the community’ s poverty level is rising.

It’s not yet too late something can be done, but whatever is to be done should be done twice as fast and double the effort. We need to educate more people about the current state of our planet so that we can take drastic measures to stop this. This simply means that we have to change the way we eat, the way we think and how we set our priorities. We should now start investing in reforestation, agriculture and stopping pollution. But other than these the big question is what are you going do about this now that you know? Are you ready to fight for your planet? If you don’t do anything to save earth are you ready for the consequences?

DOES A DEGREE MEAN A BETTER JOB? By: Kevin Vitto

A first degree is no guarantee for employment with an ever increasing number of graduates jobless. It is still essential for career entry and is regarded as the minimum qualification globally.

For many years students have over worked their brains and nearly gone “blind” only because of  passing numerous exams given to them every so often. They spend most part of their lives moving from one side of the library to the other in between lunch and bathroom break in the name of wanting to excel, get a good job and have a good life.

Most of us can attest that to the advice to being advised by our parents that ‘education is the key” mantra is what has shaped the lives of many students. In fact, people believe that education is the only thing that stands between a great life and an ordinary life.

Nowadays, with the influx of graduates hitting the job market and filling the streets is not what it used to be. Education appears to be greatly overrated but when people go to school, and ignore the talents and abilities they lose a lot in life  and also end up having jobs to just earn a basic salary.

With reference to the world’s richest and arguably self made men and women, like Bill Gates, Oprah who fashioned their billions away from the classrooms, are now considered two of the most influential people in the 21st centaury.
All that they are right now was by them taking the time and realizing their potential and by taking the time to nurture and improve their talents and they ended up loving what they were doing since it was their talent.

The main predicament people find themselves in is the fact that they don’t enjoy what they do. According to Yogeshwa, a job is a particular task that people do to earn money. If you say that someone is doing a good job, you mean that they are doing it well. If you say that you have a job doing something, you are emphasizing how difficult it is.
People who work have a job, usually one that they are paid to do. When you work, you do the things that you are required to do in your job. When you work, you spend time and effort doing a task that needs to be done.

(But if you ask me I think it depends with how you do it and if you are enjoying it or not cuz how I define job is Just Over Broke: a job is something you do so that you are never broke, but hey no one is asking)
